L.O.V.E

Microsoft is launching their new Office, Vista (replacing Windows XP) and Exchange 2007.

I am particularly interested in Office 2007 which I feel is an absolute stunner! For artistically inclined people, this is like a dream come true. Microsoft overhualed the existing user interface of Office 2003 and gave it a complete facelift in Office 2007. Not only are the menus and toolbars replaced by tabbed ribbons, the user interface is totally customisable according to each individual's preference and working style.

Office 2007 has a very multimedia and interactive feel to it which makes it very refreshing. It can be registered with a blog and entries can be created to be published directly to the blog! This is a damn cool feature.

Hong Kong Cafe

Today we had late lunch at Hong Kong Cafe.

The mushroom soup we had, sprinkled with spring onions (yucks!), is not exactly delicious. But it's a nice place to spend a quiet Saturday afternoon.

The Departed

Caught The Departed today.

It's kinda cheesy seeing a supposedly Chinese movie acted out by Ang Moh actors. I dunnoe why but the envelope where Leonardo DiCaprio scribbled "CITIZENS" on tickles me the most. It's definitely bloodier and funnier than the Chinese version.

I particularly love Jack Nicholson's crazy triad boss character. Makes you love him and hate him at the same time.

Shanghai - The Aftermath

Total Area
Too small for the 13 million population.

Population
Rude, dishonest, shameless.
Horn continuously on the road.
Jump queue like it's nobody's business.
Do not give way to anyone and don't give a damn when they bump into you.
Only gives way to cars, motorcycles and bicycles who don't give way to anyone.
Speak without a mic and still achieve the same results, sometimes even better!
Quarrel as and when the occassion arises, regardless of where they are or who is watching.
Follow you for 2 hours just so that they can bring you to their fake goods shop.
Curse you when you refuse to take their trishaw.
Spit anywhere, anytime, anyhow.
Throw assorted rubbish, including soiled diapers and apple cores, anywhere, anytime, anyhow.
Press the "close" button while you are still entering the lift.

Location
Where autumn came late this year.

Development
Maybe I'm expecting too much but isn't this suppose to be the most developed city in China? Behind the modernised buildings is actually a bunch of almost uncivilised citizens that is beyond my imagination. For Shanghai to become a true Metropolis in all sense of the world, they need a hundred more years. That's how I feel.

Enjoy the photo!

Soup Spoon DIY

Today we attempted to have our favourite Vevety Mushroom Stroganoff at home.

We waited a whole 30 minutes for the frozen soup to defrost in the oven.

30 minutes later the soup is still stone cold with a layer of water forming on top, albeit in a semi-solid condition.

After leaving it in the oven for another 15 mins, we dump it into the pot.

The end result.

Texture and colour wise the finish product seems like what Soup Spoon serves. But the taste is a tad too weird. Maybe I'm asking for too much but looking at the packaging, I thought I can achieve the same results at home. Wishful thinking on my part!

I should just stick to having my favourite soup in Soup Spoon instead.

Button Moon

Someone mentioned in her blog about this children's programme called Button Moon. Do you remember Button Moon?

Button Moon - From Wikipedia

Button Moon was a popular children's television programme broadcast in the United Kingdom in the 1980s on the ITV Network. Thames Television produced each episode which lasted ten minutes and featured the adventures of Mr. Spoon who, in each episode, would travel to Button Moon in his homemade rocket-ship. Once on Button Moon (which hung in "blanket sky") they would have an adventure, and look through Mr. Spoon's telescope at someone else such as the Hare and the Tortoise, before heading back to their home planet 'Junk Planet'. The series ended in 1988 after 91 episodes.

A Hazy Saturday

BB had a BBQ she didn't want to go. So we decided to do something healthy - rollerblading. This seems like an extremely good and novel idea, considering that it is always KTV and shopping. Alas! The haze was at an amazing PSI and we had no choice but to abandon our plan. Instead, we went to Raffles Place for a late lunch.

The bustling business district is a ghost town during weekends.

Soup Spoon failed me by closing early. We went to TCC instead.

BB refusing to pose for me.
My healthy chicken & mushroom sandwich.
Guess where we went to after this.

Typical typical typical.

Office Move

Today we officially shifted from #05-05 to #05-04. This marks my 3rd shift in 2 years. Ever since the shift was announced back in August, I stopped trying to keep my desk neat.

Yesterday, a day before we were suppose to completely shift over, I started to clear out. This is how my desk looked like in a semi-cleared condition.

And this is my new desk!

Will take a bit of getting used to as the alignment of my new desk is the opposite of my old desk.

My neighbours on my left and right.

It's such a coincidence that my new desk is BB's old desk. And BB's current extension is Jack's old extension. And Jack and BB used to... and Jack and me... and BB is my.. Oh man! We are all living an intertwine life aren't we.

And the only person unaffected by the shift - our receptionist lady.

Do you sometimes feel disgusted by the inconsiderate people you met on the bus?

I know I do.
